First Project..DONE!

My first project I decided to sew with my new sewing machine was a cover for said sewing machine. It is done, and doesn't look too shabby, if I do say so myself.
I love the fabric I found for it!! Nothing I love better than polka dots!

My next few projects I want to make are; a frilly apron, a tree skirt, and that skirt I bought the pattern and stuff for a year ago.

Happy Late Halloween!!

Sorry this is a bit late, I couldn't find my camera cable again ;D
Halloween this year for us was a mellow event. Since it was on a Sunday it was different for us. Saturday, which is when most people celebrated, I had to work. I dressed in black and wore my skeleton apron. Didn't get any pics of that tho. It was fun tho, Jason and Lindy, our cousins, brought their adorable baby girl, Lexi, up to trick or treat and have dinner. Sky met them there, and it was nice to visit in between tables.

Sunday for REAL Halloween Sky and I had a "Treehouse of Horror" Marathon. Those that know us well know we adore Simpsons. It was nice to just stay home and relax. No trick or treaters this year on either day, which is good cause we didn't buy any candy this year!
Oh and I made Skeleton Cupcakes for my coworkers! I think they turned out super cute!

Date Nights!

Lately Sky and I have been trying to do new things for our date nights. We've both gotten pretty sick of the the whole dinner and a movie date. I got a couple books that have some great ideas, "Fun & Creative Dates for Married Couples," and "101 Creative Dates for Latter-Day Saints." So far I like the first one better because it is meant for married folk.
Last week, we went down to the Haunted Village at the This Is The Place Heritage Park.
It was a BLAST!! We had fun walking through all the building and on the paths. They had it all spooked out great! Spooky scary, not creepy, bloody, horror scary. It was fun to cuddle into Sky when I got spooked!! MY favorite part was the Headless Horseman!

This week, we went to Grammy's and bought a few pumpkins to carve.
I really hate pumpkin guts

Sky tried carving one with our Dremel, but that one didn't turn out so well.

But the Dremel was very useful for cutting the tops open. These two we did the old fashioned way...

baby showering and updates...

Last night we (the Lund family) threw Natalie a baby shower!! It was really low key but fun. Kathy made pumpkin cheesecake and peach cobbler. It was lots of fun bonding with all the girls, and Natalie got tons of super cute baby stuff.
I made a diaper cake for it, and it was a huge success. When I made it, I was worried that it would be difficult, but it was super easy.
Maybe I'll etsy them or something. I think it turned out fabulous, and I had a blast putting it together. I need more creative outlets!

Speaking of creative outlets, I just ordered a sewing machine...
I know what you are thinking, "Clarisa knows how to sew?" And the answer is-not really. My mom, of course, taught me to sew when I was little, but the last time I touched a sewing machine was probably 7 years ago! I was pretty anti-domestic in high school. But I have been wanting one for about a year, I always wish I had a machine so I could hem my jeans, or fix the holes in Skyler's pants, or make the cute skirt I bought the pattern and fabric for a million years ago. And in the future I'd love to be able to make Halloween costumes for my kids. And anytime Heather makes anything cute I'm jealous that I can't replicate it because I have no machine. So we figured what the heck, and got it. It will come sometime next week. (Thank you free shipping on Amazon) My first project will be making a cover for the sewing machine. I got some cute brown and pink polka dot fabric for it. I'll keep you posted on my adventures in sewing!! And sorry to my mom and Heather for all the texts and phone calls you'll be receiving asking you for help :D

Other than that, nothing for us is really new. Skyler got a promotion at work, and we're trying to figure what to do with him and school. We'll be taking a mini-vacation down to St George for Thanksgiving week, and popping over to Vegas for a few days.

Quick Weekend Overview

Last weekend was a LONG weekend for everybody but me and Sky. I worked all Saturday and he was at a car show is Kansas til Sunday. We were able to have some fun Monday tho. It was Karen's birthday, so we went down to celebrate with the Sampsons and ended up at Snowbird for the day. Lucky for us it was also Oktoberfest!! They had lots of awesome booths and were selling delicious garlic fries and bratwurst. Sky bought me a gorgeous silk wrap that you can make a top, dress, or skirt. We rode the tram up the mountain with the fam, and it was so gorgeous at the top!! Then they hiked down and Sky and I rode back cause we had to get back to Salt Lake so Jimmy could fix my car. All over, a really fun day out with our family!!
